2–seater catamaran with minimal frame (2 cross pieces) "Mustang"

Lenght – 3,20 m, width – 1,80 m, tube – 0,52 m, load capacity – 250 kg, weight – 11/8,4 kg, price – 650/550 EUR

It is originally constructed catamaran with a frame of 2 duraluminium cross pipes with diameter of 40 mm. Nevertheless, the rigidity of this construction equals to the one of the classical frame. Each of the frame pipes contain two parts, therefore catamaran can be packed in a bag without removing the frame from the tubes, but simply wrapping the tubes around the pipes. The setting–up of catamaran requires only a few minutes as only separated parts of the pipes must be screwed. Depending on a size of catamaran the amount of pipes vary from 2 to 6.

It is seated astride a tube. Feet are leant on a pipe; knees are fixated with adjusting belts. Two belts fixate the knees; an extra belt supports the back. Thereby the seat becomes very comfortable and untiring. The rowing is as efficient as by kneeling on a tube, except the stroke to the front, and the centre of gravity is lowered. The equipment is packed on a frame of pipes with additional poles installed between the tubes or with a specific duraluminium platform. In a case of not complicated waters with a need of additional comfort, the all–over lower deck might be installed on a cross pipes. Such a construction is highly attractive for commercial tourism. In addition, narrow canoeing, motor or sailing catamarans can be easily constructed on a basis of “Mustang” as a frame is already there for the deck and other gear to be attached to.

A general tourist 2–seater "Mustang" with a frame weights 12 – 13 kg, while 4–seater weights 18 – 20 kg. Frameless catamaran is also available, with an opportunity to make a wooden frame straightly on a river bank. The price of catamaran depends on its size and the actual construction features.
